Welcome to your Senior year! As a senior you’re on the last stretch, almost there! This year you want to visit different college campuses if that is a possibility. Make sure to narrow down your college list into Safety (high possibility to get accepted), Match (possible to get accepted) and Reach (low possibility to get accepted) schools. Make sure to discuss this list with your counselor; they’ll be the best resource this year! Make a calendar to keep track of financial aid deadlines, early- and regular- decision application deadlines for the different colleges you will be applying to. Meet with your school counselor early on to make sure you are in a good position to apply for college. Complete your college essays in a timely manner so you can get feedback from your counselor. Take the ACT/SAT if you haven’t yet. Start gathering your letters of recommendation, and ask your teachers early on in your senior year. Your teachers are going to be busy with writing many letters of recommendation for the rest of your senior class so make sure you request it in a timely manner. Ask your counselor about the CommonApp since most colleges use this website for their applications. Keep working hard on your classes and beware of Senioritis, high school isn’t over just yet! Look into financial aid options and scholarship opportunities and apply!
